Facility

We moved into our new shelter in March of 2001; a brand new facility planned with the needs of the animals in mind. The shelter is 4,404 sq. ft., with additional land available for future expansion. The facility has a state of the art ventilation system, which lowers the chance of disease spread.

Animals meet their potential adopters in a get-acquainted room. A quarantine area is set aside for sick or hurt animals.
There are 37 adult dog kennels with 11 outdoor runs, 64 cat/kitten cages, 24 puppy cages, 11 quarantine room cages, and 4 vet room cages.
The law mandates that the county must house strays for four days. Livingston County exceeds the requirement by housing strays for at least seven days, when not crowded. This gives the owner a much better chance to find their lost pets. After seven days the animal is available for adoption.
